What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray – ki) is a natural, ancient, healing system, which re-emerged in the early 20th century having been developed by Dr Mikao Usui. Reiki means ‘universal life energy’. Reiki may assist in healing at the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level of being, for example Reiki may help with physical pain and chronic conditions as well as anxiety, panic attacks etc.

There is no need to hold specific beliefs to benefit from a Reiki treatment.

What is a session like?

You relax, fully clothed, on a couch (or chair if lying down is difficult). The environment is supportive and relaxing with fragrance, sound and soft light. I place my hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions on your body. While the whole person is treated, I will concentrate on specific areas if this is indicated.

A session generally lasts around one hour.

What will I experience?

A Reiki treatment is very personal and experiences vary. You may feel tingling, heat or see colours. Most recipients feel a very deep relaxation.

Reiki can safely be used in conjunction with medical treatment and other complementary therapies.
